A little about me

A little about me

Let me introduce myself. I am Luanne and I am a qualified Hypnotherapy Practitioner with both NLP and Life Coaching skills registered with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC). I currently work in Women's Health and Wellbeing and have experience with both adult women and younger teenage girls.

I also have many years experience working in the front line of the NHS, having worked as an Operating Department Practitioner (and still do!) mostly within anaesthetics for over 23yrs. I have experience working in all anaesthetic specialties with both adults and children and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Studies. I am skilled working with people, responding to both their physical and psychological needs. I have been by the side of 1000's of patients, helping them to feel calm and at ease, often during very stressful and emotional times in their lives, such as for life changing surgery, emergencies, trauma or even during cesarian sections!

Prior to the NHS I worked in adult mental health, following a Diploma in Social Care. The care and health professions have always been my field, with a passion to support people and bring improvement to their lives.

What brought me to Hypnotherapy?

A few years back, I was working almost full time as a department Team Lead, struggling with persistent back pain and sciatica, and negotiating long hours predominantly on my feet all day. Also a wife and mother of a young child, (and several animals!) I was rushing around and juggling life's daily expectations and trying to keep all the plates spinning. I noticed my health was waining and my mood and energy levels were all over the place but I mostly ignored it. After a long time suffering and struggling, an emotional trip to the GP helped me to realise that one, I was actually peri-menopausal and two, I had to make some changes to help myself.

It explained a lot! The recent physical symptoms, anxiety and overwhelm made more sense. I didn't know at the time but the constant nervous energy I was using, (while in survival mode), was causing my nervous system to become dysregulated. I was up one minute and down the next, I often felt irritable and 'on edge', with many aches and pains, digestive problems and not sleeping brilliantly well. I also felt foggy, unable to concentrate, had memory issues and often felt exhausted and depleted of energy. My body's 'stress response' was making my hormone levels worse (cortisol affects hormone production and lowers oestrogen) causing me to gain weight and created a downward spiral in my physical and mental health. After much deliberation, I decided to reduce my working hours, to improve my health and wellbeing. This kickstarted my own journey to self healing and eventually a new career!

I enrolled on a course that would transform the way I perceived the world and myself forever! I learned and developed tools and techniques to help manage emotions and reduce negative thinking. I also learned about the physical impact on our bodies of living busy, chaotic and often disconnected lives and not taking care of our own needs. I learned about how we respond and react to our environments and how to develop more resilience and calm by changing our perception and understanding of the world around us. Many of us are living our lives on autopilot, in a state of reactivity, without any real conscious awareness. By being more mindful and observing ourselves, we can develop a greater sense of self-awareness and become more self witnessing. We can learn to reconnect with ourselves and become more conscious of our needs, both mentally and physically. Through this process, we can transform our health and wellbeing.

After qualifying in Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming, I felt Inspired to help other women struggling with pain, emotional issues and health related symptoms. I now balance part-time hospital work with Hypnotherapy and Coaching and feel much healthier and happier for it!

My personal mission is to help women improve their own mental and physical health by dealing with the negative impact that stress, anxiety and overthinking has on us. The mind and body are inextricably linked and should be viewed and treated as a whole in order to maintain an equilibrium and promote good mental and physical health.

I continue to study and develop myself professionally so that I can offer services to my clients that are effective and relevant.
