You may fear flying because of a previous flight and an experience that was particularly scary at the time. Or you may of frightened yourself with your own inner thoughts and imagination. Perhaps you fear enclosed spaces or don’t like not having an escape route? The good news is these fears are learned or developed, and can be unlearned too!
Fear can be attached to all sorts of things in life but with hypnotherapy, we can unhook the attached fear response.
Using guided visualisation whilst in a deeply relaxed state, you can retrain your mind to unlearn anxious and fearful reactions.
While in a calm and focused frame of mind, you are able to rehearse situations that would normally be stress inducing. The difference is; your survival brain senses you are calm and relaxed because the vagus nerve sends messages via your relaxed body, confirming that you are feeling safe and not under threat.
The acute stress response (fight, flight or freeze response) is not activated as it normally would be in that situation. Your subconscious mind learns, whilst you are visualising taking a calm flight and behaving normally, that it no longer needs to protect you from danger by priming your body with stress hormones, that often create symptoms associated with fear and anxiety. It relearns that you can be calm and relaxed when flying and the autonomic stress response is no longer necessary.
Each session involves coaching to help with stress, anxiety and negative thinking. It also includes several informative handouts, infographics and tools and techniques to reduce anxiety and stress. An audio recording is also provided for each hypnosis session. The more you listen to the recordings the more the new response is embedded and you feel more confident, relaxed and happy to fly to your chosen destination!
